Gracious Yew is a multidisciplinary designer whose work spans art, fashion, and graphic design. It explores ideas through visual expressions, materials, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
BEFORE THE DESIGNER
My creative journey began in my Visual Arts class in secondary school. I was drawn to experimenting—to making, altering, and finding new possibilities in what was already there.
I began cutting and transforming previously owned jeans and painting on shoes, turning worn pieces into something personal and expressive. What started as experimentation became a way of thinking: looking at an existing form and asking what it could become.
That curiosity eventually led me deeper into fashion and graphic design, expanding the ways I could translate ideas from imagination into something tangible.
THE WORK EXPANDED
As my curiosity grew, simultaneously, the way I wanted to create grew too. Fashion gave me a way to explore form, material, construction, and the relationship between what we wear and how we express ourselves.
Graphic design introduced another language — one built through composition, typography, imagery, and visual communication.
Rather than choosing one discipline, I found connection between them. Each expanded the way I could think, communicate, and create.
A WAY OF INTERPRETATION
I don’t see Art, Fashion, and Graphic Design as separate worlds.
I see them as different ways of exploring an idea.
A concept might begin as an image, become a material, take shape through form, or communicate through design. The medium can change, but the intention remains.
That freedom to move between disciplines allows me to approach each project from different perspectives while staying grounded in concept, craftsmanship, and visual storytelling.

ART
Where ideas become visual and tangible expressions through image, material, experimentation, and craft.
FASHION
Where ideas take shape through form, fabric, construction, styling and the relationship between the body and what we wear.
GRAPHIC DESIGN
Where ideas become visual communication through identity, composition, typography, imagery, and concept.
CRAFTED WITH INTENTION
Every project begins with a reason to create. I believe the strongest work comes from understanding the idea first, then giving it the time, attention, and craftsmanship needed to become something meaningful.
I value thoughtful concepts, purposeful choices, material exploration, and attention to detail. Whether I’m working with fabrics, a canvas, a screen, or a visual identity, I approach the process with curiosity and precision.
The medium may change, but the intention doesn’t.
